Prompt:

The realm is doomed. Overrun by Gorlocks, the King and his mighty coven of Sorceresses have opened a portal to a mysterious and magical land to escape to—a strange new world called Astoria. But, before the kingdom’s survivors can be ushered through the portal, a select team of surveyors has bravely volunteered to cross the threshold and make sure this new world is safe.

Your task:

Tell us who the volunteers are, and what these brave souls see on the other side of the portal. These will be the kingdom’s first touches in Astoria. What does our new world hold in store?

All submissions must:

  • Be in .doc or .docx file format.

  • Be no more than 10,000 words.

  • Be in 12 pt. Times New Roman Font.

  • Be appropriate for an audience of age 14 and up.

    • At the current time, we will not be accepting pieces that would be considered smut. (If there is enough interest, there may be an “Astoria After Hours” issue of the mag… Stay tuned.)

  • Be written by a human. (No submissions written in any part by generative AI will be accepted for publication.)
